Our Missionaries plan October visit

By Pastor Tom Anderson

Come to church Sunday October 3 to hear the testimony of our missionaries Bryan and Joan Wussow!

Bryan and Joan love God’s Word. God used it to transform them. And before they were married, they were amazed to learn that Bryan’s engineering skills were needed in missions. They began serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1991.

Today Bryan leads a Language Software Development team in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Tools their department develops are in use by 2000+ Bible translation projects worldwide to translate Scripture and create Scripture audio recordings, Scripture apps for smartphones, and locally translated literacy booklets and Bible story videos. Joan’s artistic and hostess skills are put to use in ethnic and museum-quality displays, hospitality, ethnic meals, and in the past - illustrations in literacy primer booklets in Papua New Guinea.

Thrive Church partners in Bryan and Joan’s Wycliffe ministry through our encouragement, prayer, and financial support. We join them in eliminating Scripture poverty around the world.

Wycliffe Bible Translators believe that the Bible is God’s Word to us — something that everyone should be able to understand in a language and format that clearly speaks to their hearts. At least 2,000 languages around the world are still waiting for a translation project to start.

When people finally get Scripture in their own language, lives often change in amazing ways. People are transformed as they discover Jesus Christ and enter into a right relationship with God.

That’s why Wycliffe Bible Translators exists — to help speakers of these remaining languages get the Bible for themselves. And they won’t stop until all people have God’s Word in a language they understand.
